Highlands County is an ideal area for fishing with more than 80 Lakes and several creeks. Boats with trailers can put in at the 43 ramps maintained by employees of the county.

Lake Bonnet provides an excellent opportunity for fishing enthusiasts to enjoy this past-time. There is a board ramp and docks available at the Park. Please visit the office or contact us at (863) 385-7010 for details concerning use of Park facilities and storage of trailers and boats.
Nearby Lake Istokpoga is a popular Florida destination for Big Bass fishing. The lake is host to several tournaments and there are numerous fishing guides available. A good place to put in would be Neibert's Fish Camp on Arbuckle Creek, just north of where the creek feeds in to Lake Istokpoga. Lake Glenada on the east side of Highway 27 across from the Avon Park Armory also attracts a lot of fishermen. Lake Letta off SR17 in Avon Park, Lake Childs near the town of Lake Placid and Lake Sebring in Sebring are very good. Fishing licenses are required.
